Burger King

Serving residents in the Hanover Park area since 1972, Burger King employs approximately 26 people at its Hanover Park location.  Gill Management, Inc. purchased the property in 1987 and has performed two remodels, one in 1989 and a more extensive remodel in 2001, which included expansion of the building, landscaping and parking lot.

Since locating in Hanover Park, Burger King has seen steady growth and become a prominent business in the community.  “Gill Management has experienced 100% sales growth since 1989 at the Burger King Hanover Park store,” said Bruno Hilgart, Director of Operations and Marketing.  He added “We always want our guests to have and leave with a great eating experience at a great price.”

Burger King’s success can be attributed to heavy investment in training team members, tracking service of customers at the counter and drive-thru via computer programs by shifts, and regular monitoring of all its stores to see what is working and what is not.  To its credit, Gill Management does not have a lot of turnover; and most team members have been with Burger King for more than two years.  “Burger King is always hiring, yet we are looking to upgrade to be on the cutting edge of new technology,” said Hilgart. “Team members take a lot of pride in what we do.”

Burger King is very community-minded through its involvement in the following programs: working with local schools on lunch programs, member of the Hanover Park Chamber of Commerce, past participation in the Village’s Harvest Fest celebration, and working with the Hanover Township Senior Center.  In recognition of this commitment to the community and their customers, Burger King was a finalist for the 2008 Mayor’s Choice Award.
