New Salt Storage Facility

Release date: Monday, September 27, 2010

The Village of Hanover Park recently completed construction of a new salt storage facility located behind Village Hall.  The new dome, which can hold 3,500 tons of salt, is equipped with a conveyor loading system.  The former dome was demolished to make room for the new Police Station.  The dome is now located adjacent to the liquid storage tanks which hold the Village’s anti-icing material, and the salt brine manufacturing unit.

In a typical year, the Village uses approximately 2,000 tons of salt and 35,000 gallons of anti-icing liquids.  The Village already has over 3,000 tons of salt in the dome ready for the upcoming winter.
