Mayor Craig has prepared this letter to update our business community on State guidance for Phase 4 Restore Illinois business operations and a new assistance program available from the Village.
Locally owned businesses support our sports teams, schools, and provide local jobs. We thank you for supporting Hanover Park businesses during this trying time and encourage the community to shop local! As a reminder, the Village posts information daily on business resources.

To assist our small businesses during these extraordinary times, the Village of Hanover Park has created a COVID-19 business assistance Program to help our small independent retail and service businesses.

Phase 4 Re-Opening GuidelinesTo ensure businesses can reopen safely, the state released a common set of standards expected of all employers, while also outlining industry-specific guidelines using a risk-based approach to support unique operational needs of businesses across the state. Business Interruption Grants Program (BIG) opens on Friday, June 26, 2020 The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is launching the first round of Business Interruption Grants (BIG) by providing $60 million to businesses experiencing losses or business interruption as a result of COVID-19 related closures. The BIG Program is available for up to 3,500 businesses that experienced a limited ability to operate due to COVID-19 related closures. The following businesses are eligible to apply: - Bars and Restaurants not able to offer outside service (grants up to $20,000)
- Barbershops and Salons (grants of $10,000)
- Gyms and Fitness Centers (grants of $20,000)
The application is now available for review. However, you won’t be able to apply until Friday, June 26, 2020 around 9:00 a.m. You will be able to apply in English or Spanish. - To view a copy of the application, please click here.

- If you use an ITIN for your business, you will be able to apply as along as you use that ITIN to pay your taxes and are registered with the Secretary of State with that ITIN number for your business.

DuPage County, in conjunction with Choose DuPage, is providing grants to support small businesses, nonprofits, and independent contractors impacted by COVID-19. The grant program initially launched on May 18th and was closed shortly thereafter due to overwhelming response. The county reopened applications on Friday, June 12 in an effort to provide additional support to the community and is again accepting applications. As our State and communities begin to reopen, the DuPage County Health Department has developed a signage toolkit to support businesses as they promote safe practices. Businesses are encouraged to download the artwork and print flyers, posters, window clings, and floor decals as it meets their needs. Get the TOOLKIT

Payment Protection Program (still taking applications until June 30, 2020)
If you are interested in applying, we suggest you apply now before June 30, 2020. You can find more information about PPP here. The SBA has a lender finder to help you know which lenders can accept PPP applications, please visit here. SBA statement about changes to the forgiveness program, please visit here. For example, one of the changes was lowering the amount to be used for payroll from 75% to 60%.
Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) & Advance (OPEN again)
- If you are interested in applying or getting more information please visit here. The loan interest for businesses is at 3.75% and for nonprofits it is 2.75% with terms of up to 30 years. You apply directly with SBA.

This interactive map identifies Hanover Park restaurants and food providers offering specific modified services such as in-store pickup, curbside pickup, and delivery. The Village has allowed certain liquor license holders to sell take-out packages. Please support our restaurant owners and workers.
