Minimum Wages are Increasing!

Effective July 1, 2022, the minimum wage in Cook County increases to $13.35 for non-tipped workers and $7.40 for tipped workers. Visit CookCountyIL.gov/MWO for complete details.

The updated "Notice to Employees" and "Frequently Asked Questions" documents are available here.

Employees who believe their employer is not paying the required minimum wage should first check to ensure the municipality where they work does not have a different minimum wage. If the municipality has not opted out, employees can file a complaint with the Cook County Commission on Human Rights. Complaint forms and additional information can be found online here.

Facade Grant

Financial Assistance for Businesses

To encourage the improvement and revitalization of the exterior facades of existing commercial buildings, a Facade Grant program has been created for all eligible commercial properties in TIF Districts 3, 4, and 5:

Up to 50% of eligible project costs will be reimbursed (up to $25,000)
Minimum project cost should be at least $5,000
Landscaping and/or streetscaping can be reimbursed up to 30%
Applications and funding will be available on a first-come, first-served basis
To be eligible, applicant and property owner must be in good standing with the Village

Eligible Improvements:

Awnings & canopies
Exterior walls/doors/windows/shutter/downspouts
Exterior building materials
Stairs, sidewalks, porches, railings, colonnades
Signs (in conjunction with a comprehensive façade improvement project)
Outdoor seating areas
Landscaping
Fencing
Dumpster enclosure
Screening of mechanical equipment/utilities at grade level or on the roof
Code improvements

Village Center Zoning Update

Vision for Our New Village Center Moves Forward!

The Village of Hanover Park is taking steps to implement our long-range vision of creating a vibrant ‘downtown’ area around the Metra train station. Streetscape improvements were installed last year, creating a new plaza and public spaces. To implement land use recommendations of our Comprehensive Plan and Village Center Transit-Oriented Development Plan, changes are proposed to the Zoning Code. These changes include the creation of new zoning districts with regulations and guidelines for future development in the Village Center area.

Infrastructure Bill Preparation Program

Free Government Contracting Courses

The Illinois PTAC and Illinois SBA District Office have joined forces to develop a groundbreaking program to prepare companies for Infrastructure Bill contracts. The Infrastructure Bill was signed into law by the Biden Administration and will provide unprecedented financing for our nation's infrastructure. Illinois will receive a substantial portion of this bill's contracting dollars. Below are FREE courses that will be offered:
