2023 Resurfacing Project
Concrete sidewalk and curb and gutter removal has started in the northeast part of town and will be followed by concrete replacement. Some residents may temporarily lose access to their driveways during construction. Impacted residents will receive notices. Police are aware and will not enforce overnight parking on the streets for those affected by the project. Final parkway restoration, north and south sections, will be completed at the end of the project when the weather is more favorable. For a location map, please visit 2023 Construction Projects on our website. As a part of this project, 41 street sections are being improved (approximately 7.16 miles). The work includes various spot drainage improvements (e.g., curb and gutter replacement), spot sidewalk removal and replacement to meet the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, pavement patching, removal and replacement of the existing asphalt surface, pavement markings, and necessary restoration. The public will have access to the streets during construction; however, minor delays may occur. If you have any questions or concerns regarding construction activities, please contact Public Works at 630-823-5700 for additional information.

Heat Stroke & Exhaustion Safety Tips
You can protect yourself from heatstroke and heat exhaustion with these basic steps: - Stay in an air-conditioned area during the hottest hours of the day. If you don't have air conditioning in your home, go to a public place such as a shopping mall or a library to stay cool. Or check for cooling centers at the Keep Cool Illinois website.
- Wear light, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing, as it reflects heat and sunlight. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water often and don't wait until you are thirsty. Avoid beverages that can dehydrate you like those that contain caffeine or alcohol.
- Avoid unnecessary hard work or activities if you are outside or in a building without air-conditioning, especially during times of peak heat from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure. When in the sun, wear a hat, preferably with a wide brim.
- Slow down. Strenuous activities should be reduced, eliminated, or rescheduled to the coolest time of the day. Those at risk should stay in the coolest available place, not necessarily indoors.
