Juneteenth Jubilee
NEW LOCATION: Hanover Park Sports Complex - 1200 Sycamore, Hanover Park The Hanover Park Sister Cities Committee invites you to its Juneteenth Jubilee on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Hanover Park Sports Complex, 1200 Sycamore in Hanover Park. The event is open to the public and admission is free. Join in the fun with live music, DJ, demonstrations, vendors, food, activities for the children and more. Road Closure at County Farm Road Grade Crossing
The Railway has funding for a complete renewal of the County Farm Road grade crossing, Hanover Park, IL in 2024. The complete track structure will be replaced, with a new rubber crossing surface installed. The Railway has the crossing renewal scheduled to commence at 9:00 am on Monday, June 24, 2024, and conclude by 6:00 pm on Friday, June 28, 2024. Complete road closure will be required for the duration of the project. HighStar Traffic will coordinate detour signs and barricades for the Railway. The proposed highlighted detour route is on the attached exhibit, utilizing Schick Rd to the north, Gary Ave. to the east, Army Trail Rd. to the south. Advance road closure signs will be displayed 14 days prior to actual road closure. Hanover Park Wins Illinois Sister City of the Year Award
The 2024 Illinois Sister City of the Year Award was presented to Hanover Park, with a population of 37,000. Hanover Park maintains partnerships with Ghana, West Africa and Zacatecas, Mexico. The excellence of their program and high levels of community involvement and City support exemplify how Sister Cities Programs build links of international friendship while enriching the entire community. Trustee Herb Porter, Chair Pamela Fowler, Darius Robinson, Theresa Smith-Waits, and Chief Frank Grant Acquah accepted the award on behalf of Village President Rodney S. Craig at the Illinois Sister Cities Association Conference held in Hoffman Estates on June 8th, 2024. Among the many outstanding programs/events the Hanover Park Sister Cities Committee sponsors is a Black History Month event. The event featured a History Through Genealogy presentation by guest speaker & author, Eric A. Smith; a "Storytelling" presentation by Poet Laureate, Chasity Gunn; a group singing of the Black National Anthem; drawings for door prizes; and a presentation of books to local libraries. Construction Updates

We appreciate your patience during the construction season. 2024 Resurfacing Project Update: The contractor continued concrete removals and replacements on the north side streets (Hickory St, Burr Oak St, Sycamore Ave, Walnut Ave, Magnolia St, Church St) and is anticipated to have all concrete work completed in the next 1-2 weeks. The contractor will begin asphalt removal in preparation for new asphalt on these same streets, except Church St. New pavement is expected to be placed next week.
