Hanover Park Receives 2024 Hire Vets Medallion Award from the U.S. Department of Labor

The U.S. Department of Labor recognized the Village of Hanover Park as one of the 839 recipients of the 2024 HIRE Vets Medallion Award in recognition of its employment of military veterans. The Village received the Gold level award. This is the fifth straight year the Village has received this honor. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans.

The Village has received a Gold level award in the medium-sized employer (51-499 employees) category. To achieve Gold status, at least 7% of employees must be military veterans, with 75% employed for 12 months. The Village exceeds this criteria with 12% of its workforce made up of veterans, with the majority being employed with the Village for more than 10 years.

“The Village of Hanover Park values the skills each of our American veterans bring to our workplace---these include leadership, teamwork, and integrity,” said Human Resources Director Barry Kurcz.  “We are extremely proud of our veterans and this award recognizes the Village of Hanover Park’s commitment to maintain our exceptional standard in hiring and advancing veterans in our workplace.  We proudly support these heroes for their dedication and service to our great country” said Village President Rodney Craig.

For additional information on the program, visit www.hirevets.gov or contact HIREVets@dol.gov

Leaves in a pile

Yard Waste Sticker Not Needed for November’s Leaves

As fall approaches, please remember that leaves cannot be deposited onto the Village streets or parkways.  Leaves can get into the curbline, clog storm drains, and cause flooding.

As a benefit to the residents of Hanover Park, leaf collection in November will not require a yard waste sticker to be collected by Groot Industries.  This is during the month of NOVEMBER ONLY and is for LEAVES ONLY.  You must rake your leaves, put them into a recyclable yard waste bag, and set them at the curb on your normal trash pick-up day.

All yard waste pick-up is offered until November 30, 2024.  After this date, yard waste pick-up will not resume until spring.  If you have any questions, please contact Groot Industries at 866.782.5161 or the Public Works Department at 630.823.5700.
