Christmas Tree Recycling

Christmas trees will be recycled throughout the Village on Saturday, January 4, 2025, and Friday, January 10, 2025. Christmas trees picked up after these dates will need a yard waste sticker.

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Trees must be placed in the parkway for pick-up.
  • Do not put trees in plastic bags.
  • Remove the stand and all decorations, including lights, garland, tinsel, and metal (such as nails).
  • Dispose of artificial or natural wreaths in the regular household garbage.
  • Do not place artificial trees at the curb for recycling.
  • Groot Industries will collect Christmas trees with your regular garbage collection. This service will be provided to the homeowners’ associations regularly serviced by Groot.

Questions? Call the Public Works Department at 630-823-5700 or Groot Industries at 866-782-5161.

Mailbox Installation Information

Keep Your Mailbox Safe This Winter!

Winter is here, and sometimes accidents happen while we’re busy clearing the roads for you. If one of our snowplows accidentally bumps into a properly installed mailbox, don’t worry! We will fix it or replace it with a standard metal mailbox on a standard wooden post. Please ensure that your mailbox is installed per the U.S. Postal Service Regulations.

To help keep your mailbox safe, make sure it is the right distance from the road. The U.S. Postal Service has some handy guidelines:

1. Set it back - Place your mailbox 6 to 8 inches back from the curb.

2. Proper height - The bottom of your mailbox should be 41 to 45 inches from the ground.

Want more tips on mailbox placement? Check out the USPS website!

If you think a Village snowplow might have hit your mailbox, give us a call at the Public Works Department at (630) 823-5700. Let us know as soon as you notice the damage. We will set up a temporary mailbox so you can still get your mail, and then we will install a new one when the weather warms up in the spring, if it was hit by a Village plow truck and was properly installed.
