Fall Night with Laser Lights

Fall Night with Laser Lights Tonight!

Get ready for a night full of laser lights! Join us at 7:30 PM at the Park District (1919 Walnut Ave) for our groovy laser light show.

This show takes place during the Park District's annual trunk or treat event, which runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. While participation in trunk or treat is not required to enjoy the show, we welcome you to bring the whole family to trick or treat from some creatively decorated trunks! Food trucks will also be on site during the event.

Come in costume or just bring your groove — all are welcome to enjoy the light show, treats, and disco beats!

Drug Take Back -October 25

National Drug Take Back Day this Saturday!

This Saturday, October 25 is the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day. The Kenneth Young Center will be at the Hanover Park Police Department from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. to collect unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications. They will also share information about substance use disorder, prevention, and treatment options.

Flushing medicines down the toilet or pouring them down the sink can create the potential for harmful chemicals to end up in our waterways. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, which can lead to medication misuse or the beginning of opioid addiction. Opioid overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. That is why Drug Take Back Day is a great opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinet and turn in, safely and anonymously, all your expired and unneeded medications.

If you are unable to make it to the Police Department on October 25th, don't worry. We have a drug take-back box in our lobby that is available from 8:00 AM to midnight every day for your convenience.

If you or someone you know needs help, the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances at 1-833-234-3435 is available 24/7, 365 days a year and is completely free. Anyone can use the Helpline, whether you are struggling with a substance use disorder or care about someone who is. Trained Helpline specialists answer questions, provide support, and connect you to services in Illinois.

Youth of the Year Scholarship

Michael H. Coleman Youth of the Year Scholarship

Named after Michael H. Coleman, a young Hanover Park resident who passed away in 2011, this scholarship program is designed to recognize and encourage excellence in the young people of Hanover Park. Students are judged on academic initiative, career initiative, leadership initiative and community initiative. Each year, a high school senior is selected as the Hanover Park "Youth of the Year."

The Youth of the Year Scholarship was established by the Village of Hanover Park to honor and recognize the contributions of graduating high school students who reside in Hanover Park. Each year, Hanover Park high school seniors are invited to participate in this program. Although considered, academics are secondary to the student’s involvement in serving the Hanover Park community. The Village knows there are several ways in which youth are involved in improving both themselves and the Village of Hanover Park and acknowledge those achievements by awarding a $1,000 scholarship and four $500 runner up scholarships.

For information on how to apply, visit our website. Applications are due by December 5.

Arlington Drive Bridge Replacement Update: This week, the contractor continued removing the forms, backfilling along the north side of the box culvert, and installing a waterproof membrane and drains along the top of the box culvert. They also began installing stone across the top. Next week, the contractor will install the water main across the river and grade and install stone rip-rap around the new culvert.
