Kids at Hope Community Resource Fair

Date: April 22, 2017
Time: 10:00 am- 1:00 pm
Location: Hanover Park Park District, Community Center Gym, 1919 Walnut Avenue

This Resource Fair is designed to promote and provide information regarding various opportunities and activities for youth and families in the Village of Hanover Park. We are seeking participation from local agencies, churches, schools, recreational and philanthropic organizations dedicated to providing safe, fun activities for children and families in our community. The Resource Fair will be free and open to the public. Hanover Township will provide complementary bus service from some of the area schools to the Park District.

There will be games and activities for the kids, performances by local children, and a raffle. Concessions will be available for a small fee.

Who are the “Kids at Hope” in our community? Every child who resides in our community is to be considered a “Kid at Hope” rather than a “Kid at Risk”. The belief of our Hanover Park Coalition is that all children are capable of success without exceptions! We are united in bringing this message to the entire Hanover Park area; that all children can find some area of interest that will provide success and an avenue of involvement for them. The goal is a future that is productive and happy no matter what they choose to do with their lives. We choose to support the positive hope that all children will find something that suits them and to provide them with many opportunities along the way!

There are many ways to be successful in life. Many of them are outside of the academic area of school and career and also include all of life’s great offerings - home and family, sports and recreation, service to the community and other hobbies or interests. Our goal is to provide information to children and their families about the opportunities that are here, already in place for them, in our very own community. Download the flyer here.

Arbor Day

Date: April 28, 2017
Click here to download the flyer

For the 32nd consecutive year the Village of Hanover Park has received recognition as a Tree City USA through the Arbor Day Foundation. To commemorate the recognition Village Clerk Eira Corral Sepúlveda annually holds an Arbor Day Ceremony to plant a tree at a local school on April 28, 2017.

The Village has a full-time Forestry Division which provides a Brush Pickup Program, contractual and in-house tree trimming programs, wood chip deliveries, and tree care advice. You can read more about these programs in the Services section of our website.  Click here to go to the Public Works section.  Or you can call the Public Works Department at (630) 823-5700 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with any questions you have regarding the Village’s tree management programs.

Clerk’s Office also encourages residents of Hanover Park to celebrate the benefits of tree plantings by participating in the Energy-Saving Trees program promoted through the Arbor Day Foundation. The Energy– Saving Trees is an innovative easy-to-use mapping tool that takes the guesswork out of tree planting.  Residents can use the tool to enter their address online to view an aerial shot of their property and obtain a research based calculation on the optimal location to plant the tree in their yard.

Free trees may be ordered through the Arbor Day Foundation via their website at www.arborday.org/comed by using the promotional code: comed17. Shipping will continue through May for the spring planting season, supplies are limited.
