Fee Schedule
Permit fees, plan review fees and refundable bonds may be associated with your project. Village staff will inform you of any required fees when you apply for your permit. Please remember to obtain a building permit before starting any work. If you start work without a building permit, you are subject to a permit penalty and Village personnel have no other alternative than to stop work on your project. All permit related fees can be found in Municipal Code Sec.18-200
Fee Calculations
New Construction-The total construction cost for new construction projects shall be based on the most recent Building Valuation Data Report (BVD), as published by the International Code Council (ICC) as posted on the ICC website.
Remodeling/Existing Buildings-The cost of construction for remodeling projects shall be based on the cost of the work being done. The total construction cost for alterations, remodeling, repairs or demolition of an existing structure or system shall be the actual costs subject to review and adjustment by the building official if the costs submitted on the permit application do not reflect the actual costs.
When you calculate fees associated with your project, please round up to the nearest $5.00. The following examples based on $114,000 value are provided to guide you in your calculations.
Permit Fee
$12 per thousand of value
(or 1.2% of value)
Example based on $114,000:
$12 x 114 = $1,368
(or 0.012 x $114,000 = $1,368)
Minimum Fee for residential work is $50
Minimum Fee for Commercial work is $100
Refundable Bond
No bond is needed for work under $5,000
$10 per thousand up to $50,000, $5 per additional thousand.
(or 1% up to $50,000, then 0.5% per additional thousand)
Example based on $114,000:
First $50,000 of value: $10 x 50 = $500
Remainder of value: $114,000 - $50,000 = $64,000, $5 x 64 = $320
$500 + $320 = $820 refundable bond
(or 0.01 x $50,000 = $500, plus .005 x $64,000 = $320
$500 + $320 = $820)
