Development Applications

If you are looking to remodel, repair, replace, or add new structures or additions, you may need a permit. Please view the appropriate permit application and corresponding permit application handout below. If you are unsure about the regulations of your project, please visit Inspectional Services.

The Community and Economic Development Department administers development applications for (1) Special Uses; (2) Variations; (3) Planned Unit Developments (P.U.D.s), Rezoning, and Comprehensive Plan Amendment; (4) Text Amendments; and (5) Plat of Subdivisions.


The Development Process generally takes 3-4 months to complete:

  • Staff Review at an in-house Staff Development Review Committee (DRC) meeting (held monthly)
  • A public hearing before the Development Commission, typically held the 2nd Thursday of the month at 7 pm. To view about the Development Commission, including the Schedule and Development Application Timeline, please see the Development Commission page.
