Demographics
In 2025, the Hanover Park Police Department had an authorized strength of 95 employees which includes 61 sworn officers and 34 civilians. At the time of the data collection, the department had 92 employees and three vacant positions. The demographics that follow are based upon the composition of the department on February 3, 2026.
EMPLOYEE TYPE
The department’s employee type consisted of 58 sworn officers with three vacant positions (63%) and 34 civilians (37%).
GENDER DEMOGRAPHICS
The police department employs 56 males which comprises 61% of the total employees while 36 females comprise 39% of the total employees. Sworn employees comprise 63% of the total employees of which 44 are males (76%) and 14 are females (24%). The civilian employees comprise 37% of the total employees and consist of 12 males (35%) and 22 females (65%).
AGE DEMOGRAPHICS
The age demographics are separated by sworn and civilian. Seventeen percent (17%) of the department employees are between the ages of 20-29, 31% between the ages of 30-39, 25% between the ages of 40-49 and 27% are over the age of 50. Nineteen percent (19%) of the sworn employees are between the ages of 20-29, 38% between the ages of 30-39, 36% between the ages of 40-49 and 7% are over the age of 50. The civilian employees consist of 15% between the ages of 20-29, 17% between the ages of 30-39, 6% between the ages of 40-49 and 62% over the age of 50.
EDUCATION DEMOGRAPHICS
The education demographics of the department are separated by sworn and civilian personnel. The five categories examined include: Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree, Some College and No College. (Some College is defined as any college credit earned, but no degree attained regardless of program.) Of the 92 employees, 14% have master’s degrees, 51% have bachelor’s degrees, 22% have associate degrees, 9% have some college, and 4% have no college. Of the 58 sworn employees, 14% have master’s degrees, 53% have bachelor’s degrees, 26% have associate degrees, 7% have some college, and 0% have no college. Of the 34 civilian employees, 15% have master’s degrees, 47% have bachelor’s degrees, 14% have associate degrees, 12% have some college, and 12% have no college.

The racial demographics of the department are separated by sworn and civilian personnel. The racial categories examined include Asian, African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, White Hispanic, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and White. The department employs 5% Asian, 0% African American, 0% American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, 22% are White Hispanic, and 73% are White. The 58 sworn employees are comprised of 5% Asian, 0% African American, 0% American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, 28% White Hispanic, and 67% White. The 34 civilian employees are comprised of 6% Asian, 0% African American, 0% American Indian or Alaska Native, 0% Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, 12% White Hispanic, and 82% White.
