Licenses

A business license is required for any commercial establishment or activity in the Village of Hanover Park.  Contact the Inspectional Services Division to discuss any plans for a new business by calling 630-823-5860 or emailing iservices@hpil.org

BUSINESS NAME REGISTRATION

CORPORATIONS AND LIMITED LIABILITY CORPORATIONS 

Corporations and LLCs are to register with the Illinois Secretary of State. If the corporation will have a DBA, it must also register the assumed business name. 

SOLE PROPRIETORS 

Sole proprietors are to register with the county specific to their location. Please contact the Cook County Clerk's Office or the DuPage County Clerk's Office for more information on registering your assumed business name.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

Internal Revenue Services- Corporations and Partnerships require Federal Employer Identification Numbers (FEIN). A Sole Proprietorship may be able to use its Social Security Number, please consult with an accountant or attorney.

Illinois Department of Revenue- Contact the IL Department of Revenue to register a new business.

BUILDING AND ZONING APPROVALS

  • Please contact the Inspectional Services Division 630-823-5860 and the Zoning Department 630-823-5780 to determine if your business may require any building permits, special use permit or variance. 
  • Note, signage permits are required before placing signage for the place of business. 
  • Inspectional Services will schedule a site visit to identify if any life safety code deficiencies must be corrected before occupancy. 
  • Your business license will not be issued by Inspectional Services Division until the final inspection and any other needed approvals are complete.

BUSINESS LICENSE APPLICATION

No person, firm, or corporation shall conduct, engage in, or maintain, operate, carry on, or manage any commercial establishment or activity either by himself or itself, or through an agent, employee, or partner, without first having obtained a license for such activity or commercial establishment. Chapter 58 of the municipal code is designed to provide for the means whereby the village may render the necessary inspections and services to commercial establishments and commercial activities in order to promote, protect, and safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare of the residents and consumers of the village and to enable the effecting of an accurate record of commercial establishments located and carrying on commercial activities or commerce within the village.

Please submit the Business License Application to the Inspectional Services Division. You may submit online or print and submit in person. Please review any additional license requirements per our Municipal Code.

Business Licenses expire on January 31st each year and must be renewed annually.  Once you receive your renewal notice, you can renew online using the 'Business License Renewal'.

VENDOR LICENSE APPLICATION

A Vendor License is required to operate a food/beverage vending vehicle or to operate vending and amusement devices.  Please submit the Vendor License Application

VENDOR LICENSE RENEWAL

Vendor Licenses expire on January 31st each year and must be renewed annually.  Once you receive your renewal notice, you can renew online using the Vendor License Renewal.

ALARM LICENSE APPLICATION

Whether commercial or residential, no person shall install, operate or maintain a signaling device over a signal line to the monitoring system at the police department or to a privately operated central station, without first obtaining an annual permit. Chapter 78 Article V. Please submit the Alarm License Application.

ALARM LICENSE RENEWAL

Alarm Licenses expire on January 31st each year and must be renewed annually.  Once you receive your renewal notice, you can renew online using the Alarm License Renewal.

WATER ACCOUNT SET-UP

You will be able to set-up your water account with the Finance Department 630-823-5799 after you submit your Business License Application to Inspectional Services.

CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY ISSUANCE

All final inspections must be approved prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for the commercial or industrial space. Certificates of Occupancy must be issued before the business will be permitted to move into the building. Permit and plan review fees vary, depending on the type of project. Contact the Inspectional Services Division at 630-823-5860 for the permit fees for your specific project.
