The mission of Schaumburg Senior Services is to provide quality services and programs to the older adults of Schaumburg Township while maintaining independence and dignity.  Services are available to Township residents who are 55 years of age and older.  Schaumburg Township offices are located at 1 Illinois Boulevard, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169.  Senior Services can be reached at (847) 285-4541.  Senior Services staff are available to assist Schaumburg Township residents with a variety of services and program.  Staff members also maintain extensive resources and provide information and referrals on a variety of issues.  Services provided include:

  • Benefits Counseling - staff can help screen for public health benefits and provide information, referrals and assistance with Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP and more.
  • Benefits Access Program - through the Illinois Department on Aging, seniors 60 and older may qualify for a license plate fee discount and free rides on all fixed route buses, trains and public transit systems.
  • Assistance with several Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County (CEDA) programs such as LIHEAP, PIPP requalification, LIHEAP Furnace Repair and Replacement Program and the Home Weatherization Program.
  • Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) statewide free insurance counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers.
  • Senior Will Program - provides Township senior residents with the opportunity to meet one on one with a Chicago Bar Association accredited attorney for the purposes of creating a living will, simple will, and/or powers of attorney at a significantly reduced cost.
  • Seniors Ride Free Program - sponsored by RTA for Illinois residents aged 65+ who reside in the RTA service area.  Seniors are eligible for free transit on fixed routes operated by CTA, RTA, Metra and Pace.  Applicants must qualify for the Benefits Access program to be eligible for the free pass.
  • Recreation, Programming, Cultural Trips and More - Senior Services hosts a variety of activities for Schaumburg Township residents.  The Senior Services newsletter and the township calendar list the most up-to-date information.
  • Newsletters - Senior Services offers two ways to stay up to date on the latest information: the Senior eNewsletter is sent out every Friday with updates on programs and other events and community resources.  You can sign up on the Senior Services website, and the Access Point is published and mailed every two months - to be added to the free mailing list contact Senior Services at (847) 285-4541.
  • Volunteer Opportunities - the Township is always looking for volunteers to support Senior Services.  Contact Kim Kettel at the Senior Center for more information.

The Schaumburg Township Transportation Department provides door-to-door transportation service to eligible Schaumburg Township senior and disabled residents.  Service is provided within the boundaries of Schaumburg Township, or 7 miles beyond township boundaries for medical purposes only.  In addition, Schaumburg Township offers the Township Riders Initiative Program (TRIP) in cooperation with Pace and neighboring townships.  This program allows eligible residents to receive transportation services from Pace within the boundaries of Barrington, Elk Grove, Hanover, Schaumburg, Palatine and Wheeling Townships for medical purposes only.  Go to Schaumburg Township Transportation Services for more details on both programs.
